While Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity opened the secrets of energy and the universe to us mortals, he also had a plethora of advice that revealed the truly amazing potential to a person’s own success by changing the perspective on what success really means. There are so many helpful Einstein quotes that can be applied to anything from business to life. We’ve chosen the top three pieces of sagely advice from the world-renowned mathematician to help you in your own successful business, pursuit, or venture.
The most famous of Einstein’s quotes, and probably most quoted, is “Insanity: Doing something over and over again and expecting a different result each time”. How many times have you heard this one? If you have heard it as much as we have, then it is definitely something to think about when concerning your own business or life pursuits. In business, thinking outside of the box or taking that risk to grow beyond anything you imagined is the most important thing to keep in mind. Yes, you can lose everything in taking that risk, but what if you don’t? Would continuing to do the same things over and over again help or hurt you in the end? Take time to think of some crazy, yet imaginative, ways you can become successful in your business or life. Sometimes the path least traveled is the one that leads you to where you want to be.
Ask anyone what they want most in this world, and you will likely get the answer “happiness”. Einstein says “If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not to people or things”. We have all been guilty of placing happiness on whether or not we have a relationship, a mountain of money, or the latest gadgets. However, true happiness comes from setting a goal, no matter the size, and achieving it. Think about a goal you have set for yourself in the past. How did you feel when you achieved it? Pretty fulfilled and happy, right? While we could set a business goal to make money and be rich, shift the goal to one of personal growth or business growth. This goal can be something that makes your employees happier, or your business more streamlined.
Our last favorite piece of advice is, “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value”. While being successful is definitely something worth aiming for, you will reach success by being seen as worth something, if you are truly amazing at what you do. Become the expert, the Go-To person in your line of business. If you place value what you do, others will follow suit. Know what your customers value, and be sure to continually give that to them. Go the extra mile is giving truly wonderful customer service. Let your customers know that they can directly contact you, and give them heartfelt help if needed. They will naturally want to do business or be loyal with someone or something valuable, and this is where you will be leaps and bounds beyond the competition.
